Old Montreal

Any trip to Montreal would not be complete without a visit to Old Montreal. Old Montreal is the oldest part of the city and is located on the banks of the St-Lawrence River. This 17th century French settlement was once called Ville-Marie and became a fortified town in the 18th century. Many old historic buildings from the 1700s and 1800s remain and have been restored preserving the look and feel of the early settlement.

From cobbled streets and horse drawn carriages to upscale restaurants and boutiques, you'll find it here, During the summer Old Montreal comes alive with huge crowds of people who frequent the many restaurants, cafes, terraces outdoor performances and festivals.

Place Jacques Cartier

Marche Bonsecours Market 
Photo Description: Marche Bonsecours is located on Rue de la Commune and Rue Saint-Paul. Its neo-classical style and tin-domed roof have made the building one of Montreal's most recognizable landmarks. Built in 1847, Bonsecours Market was once a major agricultural marketplace. Today, it houses many shops and exhibitions.

Notre-Dame de Bonsecours Chapel
